The New Democratic Party government in British Columbia is scheduled to deliver a policy speech on Monday, setting out its priorities more than a year after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The speech is scheduled to start at 2 pm Pacific time.

The leader of the New Democrat House of Representatives Mike Farnworth (Mike Farnworth) said he will focus on getting British Columbia through the pandemic.

Finance Minister Selena Robinson will submit the government's first budget on April 20. In December last year, in the fiscal update, she predicted that the budget deficit would be close to 14 billion U.S. dollars.

Farnworth said that the budget will include details of the government's infrastructure investment, but will also continue to focus on the fight against COVID-19.

Interim Liberal Party leader Shirley Bond said that throughout the pandemic, the government’s economic, social, and health plans have had no focus, and the opposition party will demand initiatives with direct goals.

Adam Olsen, one of the two B.C. Greens in the legislature, said that since the fall elections won, the New Democratic Party has not yet put forward a clear agenda.
